For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in the palace and compete for the heart of the gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she’s made for herself—and realizes that the life she’s always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

My opinion:

America Singer gets to live a dream, a dream she never wanted! This book was an awesome start to the series. Every page you turn is really well described, you can feel easily how the character is feeling. Even though at some point America got on my nerve, she really is a good character doing what she can for those she loves. The rhythm is very good, and very well written. I don’t regret reading it in such a short time (about 4-6 hours) because it allowed me to get in the next one! I read it twice, I can’t get enough of that book series!
